Sula's new BFF Mouse

Sula has a new best friend- our cat Mouse.  On Friday I started to notice that no matter where we were in the house, Mouse was there wanting to play and cuddle.  Sula is also noticing!  At every opportunity she wants to pet Mouse, or rather pull his fur and slobber all over him.  Mouse just loves it, I think he is desperate for attention.  On Sunday, he jumped in Sula's pack-and-play, we decided to let Sula join him.  She just laid on top of him and he was happy for at least a few minutes.  (Mouse has no front claws so we are not worried about him hurting her, and these are highly supervised cuddles.)

Spaz- our other cat- is still not sure and likes to just watch, from a safe distance.

It is a keeper, Vietnamese grapefruit and jicama salad

Rarely do I have time to make a big dinner anymore but I felt inspired last night to try something new, something Asian. One of my favorite food blogs, Bitten, posted this recipe last week, here is my adaptation:

I used half a medium-sized red cabbage and replaced a chili pepper with Sriracha, oh and I skipped the nuts because I ran out of time.

It was so delicious. A great choice this time of year when grapefruit are in season.

We survived MOA and went to the aquarium

Today we took Sula to Underwater Adventures at the Mall of America with grandma and grandpa Hines.

****Please excuse the annoying kid in the background, mute for a more enjoyable video experience.  I will edit these movies later and repost them so you don't have to hear it.

Sula has strong opinions

Sula is getting really excited about this weekend. Ever since we told her that Grandpa Foggy and Gramma Patty-Cake were coming to take her to the aquarium this sunday she has been minding her P's and Q's. Eating all her food, sleeping through the night and just plain being an angel. Well all good things come to an end and she just couldn't take it anymore waiting for the weekend. We captured her antics on camera and wanted to share.

Your Sula Fix for the Week

She is changing so fast, she is almost ready to sit up on her own.

Busy with quick kitchen remodel

Two weeks ago we discovered yet another plumbing disaster in our house behind the wall the bathroom and kitchen share.  The previous owners of this home did a very piece-meal job with the kitchen/bath "remodel" in 2003.  They left lots of copper and galvanized plumbing together, leaving opportunity for corrosion.  We decided, "nuts with this," and had every single piece of galvanized plumbing taken out of the house this past weekend.  Corey is busy tonight putting up new dry wall where he knocked a hole in the wall to get at the plumbing in the kitchen.  Ah the joy of old homes!

Sula has weathered this slight upset amazingly well and has been sleeping through all the noise at night.  What an awesome baby we have!

First teeth

On Friday I discovered that Sula has two new bottom teeth. This discovery immediately explained her strange behavior that day. She was a little cranky, drooling like crazy, and wanted to chew on everything, including my face.

Today, we introduced Sula to prunes. She loved it! This picture perfectly tells the story.
