Paging Dr. Sula

Ever since Sula's short stay in the hospital in July, she is fascinated with doctors. We got her a little doctor kit and some play scrubs and she just loves to play "Dr. Sula" with her baby dolls. Like any medical professional these days she is also really distracted with her "iPhone" [any phone to Sula is an iPhone.]

Skateboard lesson

Papa really wants to help Sula learn how to skateboard.
Sula got a quick lesson on our way home from the wading pool.

One last dip in the pool

Keewaydin Park is just one block north of our house, there you will find an elementary school, community center, and a park with a wading pool. The park’s name was taken from Longfellow’s poem, Song of Hiawatha. Keewaydin is a Native American word that means ''northwest wind'' or ''‘home wind.'' We like to come up to this park as often as we can because it has some awesome playground equipment for toddlers. This was the first time we checked out the wading pool. We will for sure be back next year!

Fun harvesting chard

Sula loves to help harvest vegetables from the garden. On this day it was chard. Lots and lots and lots of swiss chard. According to Sula, the stalks make really fun toys.

What am I going to do with all this chard?

Yes, she is wearing just a diaper. The clothes had to go after she got them soaking wet playing with the hose.

Carrot harvest

Sula helped harvest all the carrots from the garden today. She really enjoyed her role washing them with the garden hose.

Backyard pool fun

Today I got out the kiddie pool for Sula so that I could get some work done in the garden. I am not sure if Sula thinks she is a monkey in this video or what. What I know for sure is that she was having some major fun.

Looks like she gave a similar reaction to her pool last year: check this link out!

This is an HD video taken with my new iPhone. I am not sure why the quality is so bad when I uploaded this video from my computer. I will have to investigate this further....

Happy 2nd Birthday Aria

We celebrated Aria's 2nd birthday at Highland Park, St. Paul today on one very breezy day. This rock'n party was the perfect mix of wonderful friends, awesome playground equipment, good food (especially the cupcakes, YUM) and cool weather. All the girls are getting bigger by the minute, it was a joy to watch them converse and play together.

Fun times with silly little girls....

I tried to capture moments with all the munchkins but let's face it, Sula is still my girl, and I couldn't help but snap a bunch of her cute little self today! Check out the party pictures here.

Friends of the backyard

Here are the latest mug shots of our watch cats out in the backyard.

August in the Garden

I love our backyard garden in August. I can't seem to keep up with all the vegetables that are ready for harvest; right the list includes, cherry tomatoes, eggplant (globe and green thai), peppers, lettuce, cucumbers, chard, basil, carrots, and beets. Oh and did I mention our abundant supply of green beans, we eat those for dinner almost every night.

almuerzo de comida Cubana

Today we enjoyed some delicious Cuban sandwiches with friends at Casa de Trudeau.

Our bellies are full and we are one happy bunch...I am posting this as Corey and Sula take an afternoon siesta.
Here are the fixings. Check out that smoked pulled pork!
Here is the feast and marvelous Chef Dan.
Good times, great conversation.
These were the kids plates. Just amazing.
Sula checking on baby Julia.

One tough cookie

As many of you know, Sula had her adenoids removed and tubes put in her ears on Friday. The adenoidectomy required Sula to be under general anesthesia. She took it like a champ throughout the whole process.
Here is Sula just one hour after surgery resting with Papa.
Here she is playing doctor with her baby.
Here is Sula watching some Dora and resting in a wagon provided by the hospital.
